Changes to the Blog

2012 December 19
by Brian Mitchell

I’ve decided to make some changes to my blog that will allow me to focus on additional content beyond SQL Server PDW. The first being that I am moving the URL for the blog to http://brianwmitchell.com. You’ll still be able to find it for a while at http://sqlpdw.com but I would expect that link to go away in the future.

Most people that know me know that I have quite a bit of interest in Microsoft Business Intelligence products as well as data warehousing. Additionally, I switched teams at Microsoft a couple months ago which allow me to indulge in various technologies. I’ve moved from Premier Field Engineering back to Microsoft Consulting Services (MCS) and am now part of the Big Data Center of Expertise. Don’t let the name fool you, the Big Data COE is focused on all things Big Data (HDInsight), SQL Server PDW, and Microsoft Business Intelligence. This includes HDInsight in the cloud and on premises as well as SQL Server PDW when appropriate. Furthermore, if you put data in either HDInsight or SQL Server PDW then you are going to want to do some analysis on it probably using Analysis Services or PowerPivot. You will likely also want to report on it using one of the many Microsoft reporting applications like Reporting Services or Power View.

In the near term, I have some HDInsight o Azure posts that I plan on writing over the next week. As SQL Server PDW releases to V2 in the coming months, I hope to get engaged on a project to explore all the new features and share them here with you.
